Ludmila
A Heart for North Port
North Port has been my home for more than 25 years. It is where I met my husband, where we chose to raise our three children, and where our family has built a life rooted in faith, service, and community.
I first moved to North Port in 2001 as a teenager. As the second oldest of ten children, I learned responsibility early by helping care for my younger siblings while supporting my family. My older sister and I were homeschooled through high school, allowing me to graduate early and become the first person in my family to earn a college degree by the age of 19.
I went on to earn an Associate’s Degree in Paralegal Studies and a Bachelor’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Education, building experience in both the legal and education fields.
Those experiences shaped who I am today - someone who believes in hard work, personal responsibility, and serving others.
Why I’m Running
I decided to run for North Port City Commission because I believe our city deserves leadership that listens, plans responsibly, and always puts residents first.
North Port is growing rapidly. The decisions our city makes today about spending, infrastructure, public safety, and growth will shape our community for decades to come.
I’ve spent the past several months preparing to serve by attending North Port University, meeting with city departments, speaking with community organizations, and listening to residents throughout our city. Everywhere I go, I hear many of the same concerns — people want transparency, responsible spending, and a city government that truly listens.
I’m running because I believe we can rebuild trust with residents while protecting the quality of life that brought so many of us here.
Experience & Leadership
Throughout my life, I’ve been drawn to leadership through service.
Professionally, I have worked in both education and the legal field, experiences that taught me the importance of communication, organization, problem solving, and accountability.
Since 2013, I have served in a Couples Ministry at my church focused on building strong marriages and families. For the past 10 years I have served on its leadership team organizing conferences, formal dinner events, retreats, small groups and monthly gatherings. Our motto has always been: Strong Family = Strong Community!
In 2020, together with several friends, I co-founded a homeschool group that now serves more than 60 children each week. I continue to serve as the director, working with families, coordinating events, and helping the program thrive.
I’ve also served on the Board of Directors for Return to Life Rehabilitation Center, helping support individuals working to overcome substance and alcohol addiction.
For many years, I have advocated for my special needs brother by participating in all his Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and continuing to serve as his Personal Representative to this day. That experience has taught me the importance of listening carefully, standing up for others, and navigating complex systems with patience and compassion.
These experiences have prepared me to lead with integrity, common sense, and a servant’s heart.
Community Involvement
Serving others has always been an important part of my life.
For many years, I’ve been actively involved in my church through Children’s & Teens Ministry, Couples Ministry, community outreach, and organizing festivals and family events.
I’ve also been actively involved throughout North Port by attending neighborhood meetings, community events, city workshops, and North Port University, taking time to understand how our local government works and to hear directly from residents.
I believe good leadership begins by listening, being present, and staying connected to the people you represent.
